Little Mountain Baptist Church - Adult Men Sunday School Class

Teachers:

John Goins: I have been a member of Little Mountain Baptist Church and a member of the Adult Men
                               Sunday School Class since 1989. In 1990, I was asked to teach the class
                               occasionally. In 1991, I was elected assistant teacher. After about two years, the
                               regular teacher (after much prayer) decided that it was time for him to step down as
                               teacher of the class. I became the regular teacher at that time and have been
                               attempting, with the Lord's help and some very able assistants, to teach the adult
                               men class since then. I have a very able assistant in my brother, Phillip Goins.

Even though I feel inadequate as a teacher many times and feel sure that others do a better job, I count it a great privilege from the Lord. I try to never take it lightly. I am honored and humbled that the class members would even want me as their teacher.

We have some of the finest, most caring men in our class that I have ever met anywhere. They are always armed with a friendly smile and a warm handshake and seemingly always ready to share each others burdens. Each Sunday, near the end of class, we receive an offering, in addition to the regular Sunday school offering and call it the flower fund offering. The money is used to purchase flowers for class members and their immediate families during times of sickness, hospitalization or death. The fund is also used as a kind of home mission project. If someone has a special financial need or prolonged illness, we are able to assist. It is wonderful to have a Sunday school class that displays this kind of love one for another. The fellowship that we experience each time we meet is priceless.
